ALTA BADIA FREERIDE
ALTA BADIA FREERIDE
27.28.29-03-2009
Date
The free riding competition called "Alta Badia Dolomites Freerider Race" will take place on the last weekend of March 2009 during the days 27th, 28th and 29th of March (the 29th being the reserve day in case of bad weather). If bad weather or poor snow conditions compromise safety, the competition will be cancelled.
Route
The competition consists of a single run of about 6 km. The start is set near the Boè/Bamberger mountain hut at a heighth of 2.876 mts. The course follows the whole Val Mezdi with optional cliff jump at about 2 km from the start, well visible, valid for secondary result table. The finish line is set close to the river in Colfosco/Alta Badia, at 1.645 meters. The race course will not undergo any particular preparation; the conditions will be defined by the weather and the snow coverage. Subject to its own un- questionable judgement, the organi- zing committee may foresee obligatory passages and exclude areas along the route which are considered unsuitable.
Participation
The competition is open to all those over 16 years of age. All participants must be in possession of a medical fitness certificate and sign the accep- tance of "the liability-responsibility" form, when picking up the race package. The organisation will not accept any responsibility for damage to materials or persons deriving from participation in the competition. More- over, the organisation will not accept responsibility for physical or material damage that competitors may incurr into before, during and after the competition. The number of partici- pants at the starting line will be determined by the organizing com- mittee, regarding the conditions of the course and it may not exceed 200 for the 2009 edition. The choice of the itinerary underlies to the responsibility of each individual competitor, who must be informed and conscious of the risks of serious accidents associated with mountain competitions. All participants must do a practice run to become familiar with the course the day before the competition (2 days before, if the competition has to be postponed by a day). In case of an ac- cident all competitors must collaborate in the first aid interventions until such time as the arrival of the Alpine Rescue team. According to its own unquestio- nable judgement, the organizing committee may prohibit descents and passages in certain points or areas. Failure to respect such indications and rules or showing not enough technical ability to the security controllers, will lead to the immediate disqualification. The responsibles for the security controls of the athletes may exclude from the competition those athletes who show an insufficient technical ability for the characteristics of the race course.

Departure is scheduled for 12 am from the Boè/Bambergerhütte mountain hut. Each participant will ha- ve to reach the start with skilifts (Pordoi Cable) and then on foot (approximately 30 minu-tes), using the track opened by the organizers. No responsibility will be accepted for those who decide to reach the start using a different itinerary or by other means. Everyone reaches the start at his own risk. Participants (bibs) not present at the departure time of their group will be disqualified.

Bib num- bers must be worn visible for the enti- re duration of the competition.
